April is National Poetry Month

The Academy of American Poets in 1996 launched April as National Poetry Month. This was done to help remind the public that poetry and poets matter and play a special role in our culture.

Got books? Challenge yourself to create book spine poem from home (remotely)! All you have to do is use the spines of books to create a free verse poem. These can be a combination of books from your personal book shelf or library books. It can be more or fewer lines than what I have pictured. You will see the image of the poem I have created below. I stacked the titles so they are the focus and created a poem. Give it a try. Email me a photo of your book spine poem from home.  ~Mrs. Cote

The honest truth,

Wonder.

Open a world of possible,

Soar.

Horizon.
